Any idea how to tell if a BP input is affected by ME? eg. 'Graviton Reactor Unit'?

Some people have suggested that if an input is not recovered by recycling, then it is not affected by ME, but the item above has no outputs from recycling...

Any BP mineral input is affected by ME

Yes, but so are reaction products, and t2 components (eg. 'Pulse Shield Emitters'). Minerals are a given, but what I am trying to find out is how to tell which others are affected. It is made worse by the fact that it is not consistent for one component. eg. t2 shield hardeners do not consume more 'shield emitters' as ME drops, but T2 ships do.

They don't change in smaller items do to rounding, 100 ME may take off .2 shield emitters, but when its rounded, you wont see any change. Ships use enough to make ME noticeable on tech 2 parts

No...check out some T2 shield hardener BPOs, eg. Photon Scattering Field II consumes 16 Linear Shield Emitters at ME -4 and at ME 0. There should be (approximately) a 36% increase from 0 to -4.

And there are other components (R.A.M., T1 base items) whose quantities do not vary with ME; I'm just interested in any way to derive this knowledge from the DB. Or a rule that works for all items.

So far, it *seems* the rule that works is:

- for modules, only minerals are affected
- for ships, all but R.A.M and base items are affected
- not sure about capital modules, drones or ammo.

For drones also only minerals are affected.

[edit] invBlueprintTypes->productivityModifier

Using values from the table invBlueprintTypes I've noticed the following things.

(productivityModifier / productionTime) almost always equals 0.2

With the time research formula (1-(Industry_lvl*0.04))*Base_time*(1-(0.2*(PL/(PL+1)))) the level at which we gain last integral improvement in time is equal to productivityModifier
